Tidal Lantern is the first lit journal dedicated to the lowcountry's vibrant community.
Submissions are open to residents of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester counties in South Carolina. We seek poetry, prose, photography, and art for our first print issue plus short films, animated shorts, code art, and code poetry to feature online.
The first issue will go to print in April 2026. Preference for print publication will be given to students, and we aim to represent a variety of schools. The digital literary journal will feature tricounty artists and writers of all ages and skill levels.
For most of history, people were concerned mainly with happenings in their own village. Tidal Lantern was born in that spirit--to be the lowcountry's literary front porch, where neighbors gather to swap stories and share art. We aren't a lit mag published in Charleston. We are Charleston's literary magazine.
